NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MidOcean Partners (“MidOcean”), a premier New York-based alternative asset manager specializing in middle-market private equity and alternative credit investments, today announced that John B. Kahan, former Chief Data Analytics Officer of Microsoft Corporation (“Microsoft”), has joined the firm as an Operating Partner.
Mr. Kahan is a seasoned data science leader with nearly four decades of data science, global business, and technology transformation experience across some of the world’s leading technology companies, including Microsoft and IBM Corporation (“IBM”). He brings more than thirty years of experience serving on both for-profit and non-profit boards to MidOcean, where he will leverage his significant data analytics and artificial intelligence (“AI”) expertise to help generate value at MidOcean’s portfolio companies.

As Chief Data Analytics Officer of Microsoft, Mr. Kahan was responsible for integrating the company’s AI and data practices and leveraging them to address global challenges. Previously, he served in various General Manager-level roles responsible for Microsoft’s worldwide customer relationship marketing, for which he utilized machine learning and optimization capabilities. Prior to Microsoft, Mr. Kahan worked for 18 years at IBM, where he served in multiple roles including Vice President of Integrated Marketing Communications responsible for transforming the company’s marketing and sales efforts. Mr. Kahan has also served on the boards of more than a dozen companies including U.S. Venture, Stagwell Marketing Cloud (SMC), the Novartis Foundation and the Aaron Matthew SIDS Research Foundation. Mr. Kahan earned a B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics from Binghamton University and an MBA from the New York University Stern School of Business.
