Ted Virtue, CEO

Ted Virtue is Chief Executive Officer of MidOcean Partners. Prior to his current position, Mr. Virtue was Chief Executive Officer of DB Capital Partners with oversight for Deutsche Bank’s $35 billion direct investment portfolio. Prior to Deutsche Bank’s acquisition of Bankers Trust, Mr. Virtue was President of BT Alex, Brown Incorporated and Executive Vice President and Head of Global Finance at Bankers Trust. Before joining Bankers Trust, Mr. Virtue was a Senior Vice President at Drexel Burnham Lambert. Mr. Virtue is a graduate of Middlebury College.

Steve Miller, Chairman

Robert S. (Steve) Miller joined as Chairman of MidOcean Partners in 2009. Mr. Miller, who is widely recognized for his broad operational experience, is currently Chairman of insurance conglomerate AIG as well as Chief Executive Officer at Hawker Beechcraft, Inc. Mr. Miller recently served as Chairman and CEO of auto parts giant Delphi Corporation (2005-2009). He has also held top leadership posts at many companies including Federal Mogul, Bethlehem Steel, Waste Management, and Morrison Knudson. Mr. Miller began his career in 1968 at Ford Motor Company and after more than a decade there joined Chrysler Corporation where he worked for 13 years, eventually serving as Vice Chairman. While at Chrysler, corporate staffs, financial services, international automotive operations, and non-automotive operations all reported to him. Mr. Miller led the financial negotiations with 400 bank lenders and the Federal government, which resulted in the Loan Guarantee Act bailout package in 1980 that saved Chrysler.

Following his time at Chrysler, Mr. Miller then joined James D. Wolfensohn, Inc., a New York investment bank, as a senior partner from 1992-1993. During this time Mr. Miller also served as an advisor to Olympia & York, a privately held real estate firm, as it restructured over $20 billion of debts.

Elias Dokas, Managing Director

Elias Dokas focuses on investments in the Business and Media Services sector. Mr. Dokas has more than twenty years of private equity and investment banking experience. He began his career in 1991 as an investment professional at Merrill Lynch Capital Partners. Prior to joining MidOcean in 2008, Mr. Dokas was a Managing Director at the Blackstone Group where he spent eleven years.  Mr. Dokas received his MBA from Harvard Business School and his BA in Economics from Columbia University where he earned distinction in Physics.

Deborah Hodges, MD, Chief Operating Officer

Debbie Hodges, Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director, joined MidOcean Partners at its inception. Prior to her current position, Ms. Hodges was Chief Operating Officer of DB Capital Partners. Previously, she was instrumental in building DB Capital Partners Fund-of-Funds business. Prior to joining DB Capital Partners, Ms. Hodges was with the Capital Management Group at Bankers Trust. Ms. Hodges received her MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management and her BA from Princeton University.

Barrett Gilmer, Managing Director

Barrett Gilmer is a Managing Director at MidOcean Partners and focuses on investments in the Business and Media Services sector. Prior to joining MidOcean, Mr. Gilmer worked at Lehman Brothers in the Investment Banking Division.  Mr. Gilmer received a B.A. in Economics from Davidson College.

Frank Nash, Managing Director

Frank Nash joined MidOcean Partners as a Managing Director in 2005 and focuses on investments in the Industrial Services sector. Prior to his current position, Mr. Nash ran Deutsche Bank’s Investment Banking platform in the Asia Pacific region. He was also a member of a five person Executive Committee that ran all of the firm’s Investment Banking businesses globally. Prior to moving to Hong Kong, Mr. Nash was head of the Global Transportation and Aerospace Group at Bankers Trust/BT Alex Brown from May 1986 to February 2000. From 1974 to 1983, Mr. Nash worked with the U.S. State Department in Washington and in Singapore negotiating financial and trade agreements on behalf of the U.S. Government. Mr. Nash has a BA from Vanderbilt University and an MA from American University.

Frank Schiff joined MidOcean Partners at its inception and focuses on investments in the Business Services sector. Prior to his current position as a Managing Director at MidOcean Partners, Mr. Schiff was a Managing Director at DB Capital Partners. Previously, Mr. Schiff was a Partner at White & Case LLP, where he was head of the corporate department. Mr. Schiff received his JD, cum laude, from Cornell Law School and his BS, magna cum laude, from the University of Colorado.

Andrew Spring, MD, Chief Financial Officer

Andrew Spring, Chief Financial Officer and Managing Director, joined MidOcean Partners at its inception. Prior to his current position, Mr. Spring was a Director at DB Capital Partners. Mr. Spring also was an associate at White & Case LLP. Mr. Spring’s additional experience includes working as Counsel at Citigroup Investments, Inc. as Associate Counsel at World Color Press, Inc., and as a senior auditor at Deloitte & Touche LLP. Mr. Spring received his JD, magna cum laude, from Cornell Law School and his BS, cum laude, from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Margaret Mulvihill, Director of Fund Accounting

Maggie Mulvihill joined MidOcean Partners in 2008. Prior to her current position, she was Vice President and controller of Normandy Real Estate Partners, a real estate private equity firm. Prior to joining Normandy, Ms. Mulvihill was a Fund Controller for Grenfield Partners, a Connecticut based real estate private equity fund. Ms. Mulvihill was also a Senior Portfolio Accountant and managed a $500 million international fund for a major global developer. Ms. Mulvihill received her MBA from Cornell’s Johnson School of Business, and her BS in Accounting from the City University of New York.

Jonathan Marlow, Principal

Jonathan Marlow joined MidOcean Partners in 2009, and focuses on investments in the Consumer space. Prior to his current position, Mr. Marlow worked at Investcorp International Inc. in the private equity group. Prior to Investcorp, he served in a similar capacity at J.F. Lehman & Co., a lower middle market private equity firm focused on the aerospace, defense, marine and related niche industrial sectors. Before joining J.F. Lehman, Mr. Marlow was a financial analyst at Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. in the investment banking department. Mr. Marlow received his B.A. cum laude, in Economics from Colby College.

Harper Mates, Vice President

Harper Mates joined MidOcean Partners as an Associate in 2010 and focuses on investments in the Business Services sector. Previously, Mrs. Mates worked in a similar capacity at Citi Private Equity as an Associate focused on media and general industrials. Prior to Citi Private Equity, Mrs. Mates worked in investment banking at J.P. Morgan as an analyst in the Technology, Media & Telecom Group. Daniel Penn, Principal

Daniel Penn joined MidOcean Partners in 2010 and focuses on investments in the Consumer space. Prior to joining MidOcean, he was a Vice President at Ripplewood Holdings focusing on investments in the Consumer, Financial Services and Media sectors. Previously Mr. Penn was Associate at JP Morgan Partners (now known as CCMP Capital). Paul Teske, Vice President

Paul Teske joined MidOcean Partners in 2008 and focuses on investments in the Industrials space. Prior to joining MidOcean, Mr. Teske was an Investment Banking Analyst in the Industrials & Transportation group at Deutsche Bank Securities, where he worked on numerous advisory and capital raising assignments. Mr. Teske received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, double majoring in Economics and Political Science.

Noah Bishop, Associate

Noah Bishop joined MidOcean Partners as an Associate in 2014 and concentrates on investments in the Business and Media Services sector.  Prior to MidOcean, he was an analyst with J.P. Morgan in their Leveraged Finance group, focusing on companies in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications space.  Noah graduated from Hamilton College where he received a B.A. in Philosophy and Economics.


Elizabeth Brewer

Liz Brewer joined MidOcean Partners as a Finance Associate in 2010. Prior to joining MidOcean, Liz worked at Rockit Solutions, a wealth management firm, as a Partnership Administrator. Prior to that Liz was a Senior Fund Accountant in a Private Equity group at State Street Bank. Liz graduated from Saint Anselm College with a B.A. in Business Administration.

Andrew Gilbert, Associate

Andrew Gilbert joined MidOcean Partners as an Associate in 2011 and focuses on investments in the Consumer space. Steven Loeffler joined MidOcean Partners as an Associate in 2013 and focuses on investments in the Consumer space. Prior to joining MidOcean, Mr. Loeffler worked at Peter J. Solomon Company as an analyst, where he focused on mergers and acquisitions in the consumer, retail and media sectors. Mr. Loeffler graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, where he received a B.A. in Economics.
